House. Health and Human Services Committee
biographical statement
The House Health and Human Services Committee, established in 1995, replaces the Health and Welfare Committee which was in existence from 1969-1994. This regularly considers bills dealing with a wide variety of issues concerning health care and various services provided by the state. Some topics include mental health, availability of health care, patients’ rights, standards for medical facilities, and the keeping and issuing of vital statistics. The Health and Human Services Committee reviews regulations of the Department of Health.
In 2011 the Committee was split into two standing committees: the Health Committee and the Human Services Committee.
