The Insurance Committee, established as a Standing Committee in 1875, deals with legislative issues regarding insurance. The committee has, over the years, dealt with topics such as automobile insurance, home insurance, health insurance (and its rising costs), managed and long term care, unfair insurance practices, medical malpractice suits, and life insurance, to name just a few. The Committee also discusses the Insurance Department's proposed regulations. Each session, the Committee addresses topics and concerns of the time.
