House. Task Force to Study Export Trade
biographical statement
The Task Force to Study Export Trade pursuant to House Resolution 150, adopted November 14, 1983, was created because, in 1983, only 12% of the Nation’s businesses engaged in export trade and one of nine manufacturing jobs was related to export trade. Pennsylvania’s greatest loss in jobs had been in the area of manufacturing and the Task Force was charged with studying why hundreds of small and medium sized businesses in PA did not engage in exporting and the possibilities for growth of export activities in Pennsylvania’s agriculture, manufacturing and service industries.
Democrat Kenneth Cole chaired this committee with the help of Republican Vice-Chair, Marvin Miller. Also on the committee were: Democrats Nicholas Colafella, Victor Lescovitz and Gerald McMonagle and Republicans Donald Snyder and Robert Wright.
