Biography

House Resolution 19 created the Joint Committee to Investigate the Knox Mine Disaster which occured on January 22, 1959. The Committee inquired as to the cause of the disaster that took 12 lives due to flooding. They also researched and heard testimony to help prevent future disaster and implement emergency planning

The Chair was Frank Kopriver, Jr., James Musto served as Vice Chairman, and William J. Reidenbach was Secretary. Other Members from the Senate included Harold E. Flack, Paul W. Mahady, Martin L. Murray, and Paul L. Wagner. Members from the House included, Laurence V. Gibb, James J. Jump, and Stanley A. Mehlochick.
