Biography

The Special Bipartisan Committee ot Investigate and Study Home Equity Conversions and Reversible Mortgages was created by House Resolution 231, adopted May 30, 1984. As Representative Haluke stated at the June 21 Public Hearing, "social and economic changes that transpired since the start of home mortgages has changed the concept of the home mortgage considerably." He stated that there was a tremendous need to try to provide a mechanism to release the equity of the elderly Americans that they have accumulated in their home and who are, house rich and cash poor. It was the Special Committee's intent to present a comprehensive home equity conversion bill at the next session of the General Assembly. They presented their report November 26, 1984.
