House. Special Committee to Investigate Bureau of Aviation (HR 259)
Dates
- Existence: 1984
Biography
House Resolution 259, adopted June 29, 1984, created the Special Committee to Investigate Bureau of Aviation. The committee was responsible for maintaining and promoting aviation within the Commonwealth. The committee was directed to review the Department of Transportation’s policy regarding the aviation community and the aviation industry in Pennsylvania in relation to its failure to appoint appropriate leadership for the Bureau of Aviation. The Members found that many of the complaints regarding the Bureau of Aviation were in fact true and submitted their Final Report to the House of Representatives following their final public hearing on November 14, 1984. The committee felt that because heightened attention had been focused on the issue, the Department of Transportation would have a strong corrective response. The Secretary of the Department of Transportation worked with the committee and by February of 1985, rules and regulations were drafted to cover the Bureau of Aviation's responsibilities.
