House Resolution 169, adopted December 14, 1983, created the Select Committee to Study Avian Flu. The committee was responsible for studying the immediate and long-range effects of the avian influenza epidemic on the poultry industry and all types of businesses and individuals associated either directly or indirectly therewith.
The Chair was Jeffrey Coy (D). Members included Sam Morris, Vic Lescovitz, Bill Lloyd, Joe Steighner, John Broujos, Lester Fryer, John Showers, Ruth Rudy, June Honaman, Donald Dorr, Terry Scheetz, Nick Moehlmann, Robert Godshall, Paul Semmel, Merle Phillips and Ken Brandt.
