Pennsylvania Athletic Oversight Committee
biographical statement
The Pennsylvania Athletic Oversight Committee replaced the disbanded Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Oversight Council (PIAOC). The PA Athletic Oversight Committee is composed of three House of Representatives Members and three Senate Members and they hold the responsibility of reviewing the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association’s (PIAA) continued compliance with thirteen legislatively mandated reforms. They also respond to issues related to PIAA activities which are referred to the Committee. Finally, the Committee issues an annual report to the Senate President Pro Tempore and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The Pennsylvania Athletic Oversight Committee was created by Act 70 of 2004 by the General Assembly as a legislative oversight committee to meet at least once a year for the purposes of reviewing the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association's continued compliance with Act 91 of 2000, responding to issues related to the activities of the Association and to issue an annual report of its findings to the presiding officers in both Chambers.
