The Select Committee on Eminent Domain was established by House Resolution 180 on May 14, 1997. The Committee was directed to study the Eminent Domain Code and the code's ability to balance the competing interests and to recommend changes, if any, to the Code to balance as evenly as possible those competing interests.

Scope and Contents
The Select Committee held hearings, took testimony and made investigations at such places as it deemed necessary in the Commonwealth. Each member of the committee had power to administer oaths and affirmations to witnesses that appeared before the committee.
