House Resolution 313, adopted June 18, 1986, created the Select Committee to Study the Feasibility of the Establishment of a Harrisburg Law School because there was, at the time, no law school offering an evening, part-time course of study within seventy-five miles of Harrisburg. Mark Cohen chaired this committee consisting of Representatives Ron Cowell, H. William DeWeese, Paul McHale, David Sweet, Roger Raymond Fischer, Marvin Miller, Dennis O’Brien and Jeffrey Piccola.

Scope and Contents
The Select Committee held various meetings to discuss the feasibility of a law school in the greater Harrisburg area. Possible locations of the law school as well as partnerships were discussed during the meetings. Although the law school was not developed during the 1985-1986 session, it was established through Weidner University in 1989 and is located in Susquehanna Township in Dauphin County.Many of the files were from Chair Mark Cohen and his Research Analyst, Eric Fillman....
